DJ STYLE (MATURE Resident)

DJ Style has been an instrumental part of helping to establish the Hip-Hop
R’n’B scene in Bristol for the last 33 year’s amongst many of the cities
pioneers, and has play alongside the likes of, Jazzie B, Rampage, Semtex,
Rapaatck, Ronnie Herell, New York City DJ Stretch Armstrong, reggae
legends Dawn Penn, Janet Kay, Omar, and has been support DJ at
performances from Tribe Called Quest, Donell Jones, Gwen McCrae,
Arrested Development, Evelyn Champagne King, Romain Virgo. He’s also DJ at Massive Attack ‘s concert at Westonbirt Arboretum, where he was selected with
others to host the VIP Area.

DJ Style created his own radio programme from the success
and impact of the Code of the Streets mixtape which started in 2000. It would
then become a programme featured on a number of R.S.L (Restricted
Service License) Stations, and for the last 17 years has been a permanent
fixture on Ujima Radio, Saturday 8-10pm. The show has featured interviews
with the likes of international superstar Wyclef Jean, RnB singer Brandy,
Bobby Valentino, Carleen Anderson (Young Disciple & Brand New Heavies)
Atman Scoo, Omar, Big Narstie and Hip Hop legend Kurtis Blow, Anthony
Hamilton, Film Producer Menelik Shabbaz, TV personality Shaun Wallace
from ITV Chase.

DJ Style is also the founder of Code of the Streets, a resident club night that has existed for 20 years, making it one of the longest running RnB Hip Hop & Old School nights in the UK

Style would also be appointed Broadcasting Manger at Ujima Radio 98fm, a
role he held for 5 years, and in that time won awards, for: National Diversity
Award (2015) Community Radio Station of the Year Award (2016) and
several local awards.

In 2017 DJ Style became a recipient of a Media & Music Award at MTM
Awards, a ceremony that celebrates the excellence & achievements of the
Asian, Black & Ethnic Minorities in the South West. Now in its seventh year
the event welcomes over 3000 people across communities, over 1000
nominees and with over 60,000 voting online since inception in 2012.

Currently DJ Style is co-presenting & producing a weekly radio programme
on BBC Radio Bristol every Friday 7-10pm, The Kevin Philemon Show.

DJ Style will be performing at the Summer All-Nighter @ Death Disco 12 St Stephens St, Bristol BS1 1EL. Doors 8pm-3am.
